About Trou aux Cerfs Volcano Crater

The Trou aux Cerfs Volcano Crater is located in Curepipe, along the central high plateau from Mauritius.

The crater got formed around 2 million years ago, during the geological formation phase from the island. The highes point from the crater is at 605m above sea level and has a diameter of around 300m. The inside cone has a depth of 80m and is covered all around with trees and bushes.

The summit of the crater does not only offer a beautiful panoramic view over the island, many mauritians are using the 1 km circular path around the crater as a local recreation area, for running, walking or for a relaxed break.

If you´re not in a hurry, you should take the time to enjoy a walk around the crater.
